How it works
Three steps. No apps to download.
This isn't a platform you check every day — it's a quiet, occasional email when someone might be a good match.
You fill out one form
Tell us who you are, what you're looking for, and the things that actually matter to you — not just your job title and star sign.
We look for real overlap
Hard filters rule out obvious mismatches. Past that, we look for genuine compatibility — values, lifestyle, what you're each actually looking for — not just shared hobbies.
You get a warm intro
If we find someone promising, you both get a short, honest note about each other — and it's entirely up to you what happens next.
“An' a bosom friend—an intimate friend, you know—a really kindred spirit to whom I can confide my inmost soul.”
— L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables
Kindred Spirits started because matchmaking apps optimize for engagement, not for you finding someone and leaving. There's no infinite scroll here, no streaks, nothing quietly deciding who gets shown to whom based on what keeps you tapping.
Instead, there's a person on the other end — reading what you wrote, thinking about who you might actually like, and only reaching out when there's a real reason to. It's slower than swiping. It's also a lot more honest.
This is a small, growing, mostly-volunteer project. If it finds you someone worth meeting, that's the whole point.
Questions
Before you sign up
Is this a dating app?+
No — there's no swiping, no browsing other profiles, and no app to install. You fill out one form, and you only hear from us when there's an actual potential match.
What does it cost?+
Your first match is free. Signing up and getting matched costs nothing — we'll be upfront with you if that ever changes for anything beyond your first intro.
How are matches actually made?+
A mix of hard filters (dealbreakers you tell us about) and a compatibility read across values, lifestyle, and what you're looking for — reviewed by a person before any intro is made, not auto-sent by a script.
What if I've never done anything like this before?+
Most people haven't. The form is meant to feel more like writing to a thoughtful friend than filling out a job application — take your time with it.
What happens to what I share?+
It's used only to find and evaluate potential matches for you. It isn't sold, published, or shared beyond what's needed to make a good intro.
I have a more specific situation — can I ask before signing up?+
Yes. Reach out directly and we'll figure out if Kindred Spirits is a good fit before you fill anything out.
Ready when you are
Tell us about yourself
Takes about ten minutes. Be honest rather than impressive — that's what makes the matches good.
